Foundation Status

Newquay Tretherras School became a Foundation School in September 2009. The Governors unanimously voted on this change of category because of the opportunity it offered to embrace a positive, can-do culture, building on our considerable strengths, and reaffirming our passionate commitment to our community. Foundation schools are still LA maintained schools but have powers to employ staff directly, own and manage the grounds, and manage their own admissions. The school has extensive sports fields, an Astroturf and is adjacent to the fantastic facilities of Newquay Sports centre. Becoming a Foundation School enables Tretherras to build on its excellent reputation, and further develop its specialisms in Sport, the Arts and Science.
